October Community Update: FRG Removes 45,000 Tons of Wet Cake from AltEn Site
So far this year, the FRG has safely transported 2,025 truckloads – about 45,000 tons – of solidified wet cake to the landfill. Additional updates include progress on lagoon activities, water treatment, land application and subsoil sampling.

AltEn vacated its ethanol production facility in Mead in 2021. Since that time, the AltEn Facility Response Group (FRG) has been voluntarily working, under the direction of the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE), to stabilize the site and develop Remedial Action Plans (RAPs) for the water and the solids remaining on-site.
